Islamabad student found dead after alleged fraud over US travel documents
Add ARY News on GoogleFollow on Google DiscoverYouTube ScreengrabAAResizeISLAMABAD: A 20-year-old student of the International Islamic University Islamabad was found dead near a green belt close to Itwar Bazaar in the jurisdiction of Ramna police station, police told ARY News. The deceased, identified as Laiba, was a resident of G-10 Markaz. According to police officials, she had allegedly paid Rs5 million to an agent to travel to the United States but later discovered that the documents provided to her were fake.
Police said Laiba was under severe mental stress after learning about the alleged fraud. She reportedly left her home at around 2pm without informing her family.
According to officials, her family used her mobile phone location to trace her to the green belt near Itwar Bazaar, where her body was found.
Police said the incident appeared to be a case of suicide, but an investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Investigators are also examining the role of the agent and the alleged fraud involving the money paid for her planned travel to the United States.
Officials said the facts would become clear after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
Earlier, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in the Dhok Naju area of Khyaban-e-Sir Syed, with a relative identified as the main suspect after her body was recovered from his home.According to police, the family of the deceased—a seventh-grade student—Maimona registered a First Information Report (FIR) for kidnapping on Tuesday night after she went missing on her way to a seminary around 2:00 PM.
Later, her body was found inside a nearby house, police said.
Police collected evidence and crucial clues from the scene before shifting the body to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Authorities have identified the suspect, who managed to flee, and have launched raids to apprehend the perpetrator.
Police stated that all aspects of the incident will be thoroughly investigated and vowed to bring the culprit to justice swiftly.
City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera took notice of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of the girl.
The CPO sought a detailed report from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.
