‘Hypocrite’ Hillary Clinton is slammed for her comments on Fort Hood killer’s livestreamed execution after she celebrated Gaddafi’s death
By STEPHEN M. LEPORE, US SENIOR REPORTER 03:18 10 Oct 2026, updated 03:23 10 Oct 2026
Hillary Clinton was called out after she called Pete Hegseth’s plan to livestream the Fort Hood killer’s execution ‘barbaric’ after video resurfaced of her celebrating the death of Muammar Gaddafi.
President Donald Trump had endorsed Hasan’s execution by firing squad during a Wednesday political event in Texas, suggesting ‘he deserves it’ but was noncommittal about Hegseth’s plan to livestream it.
Clinton, who notoriously lost to Trump in the 2016 election and has remained a staunch critic, spoke out against the plan on social media.
‘A barbaric idea, beneath our dignity as a country. Push back on this,’ she wrote.
The former secretary of state usually shuts off replies to her posts, but several criticized her for reacting in delight to the death of Gaddafi in 2011.
‘We came, we saw, he died,’ she joked and laughed to reporters when informed of his killing.
While Gaddafi’s death was not televised, the media shared graphic photos and video of him being captured and his dead body across television and the internet.
‘But I thought you really enjoy watching public executions,’ wrote one critic.
‘You cheered when Gaddafi was publicly sodomized to death,’ added Jack Posobiec.
‘Hillary does her executions in private, like a lady,’ joked another.
Trump was noncommittal when asked Friday whether he wanted the execution livestreamed. ‘Well, they´re making a determination about that,’ Trump told reporters before traveling to a political event in Syracuse, New York.
But he again endorsed the firing squad as the method.
‘He will be killed. He will be, through firing squad,’ Trump told reporters. ‘I really don´t care how he goes, as long as he goes. And I think the death penalty is a very worthy way of going for him.’
Trump did not answer when asked if he would watch a livestreamed execution.
Vice President JD Vance said Friday that he will not watch the execution if it is livestreamed as the Trump administration is planning.
‘I mean, look, if it’s all through livestream, I’m not going to be watching it,’ Vance told reporters as he traveled to Lima, Ohio, for a campaign rally.
Vance described Hasan’s attack as ‘the worst terrorist attack on American soil outside of 9/11.’
‘He took them at their most vulnerable and gunned them down, these people where they lived,’ he said.
The vice president also cast doubt on whether Hasan’s execution would actually be livestreamed.
‘I don’t know if that’s actually going to happen,’ he said, when asked about the planned livestream.
Vance indicated that Hasan deserved to die for his crimes and said the execution would likely take place in December.
‘Whatever the controversy is about the method of the execution, I hope that people don’t forget that this is a guy who brutally murdered a lot of innocent people,’ he said.
Acting Secretary of the Army Hon. Adam Telle directed Tuesday the execution of Nidal Hasan by firing squad, after Trump approved the death sentence for his crimes.
The president has the sole authority to approve a death sentence for a military prisoner.
The 2009 mass shooting, which killed 13 and left 32 wounded, was the deadliest attack on a domestic military installation in US history. Hasan was shot and paralyzed from the waist down in the resulting gunfire and was sentenced to death in 2013.
During his trial, Hasan told jurors he had ‘switched sides’ in what he called America’s war with Islam.
He admitted beginning the rampage and said he wanted to stop American soldiers from being deployed to kill fellow Muslims.
Government lawyers also said Hasan did not want to go on an impending deployment to Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense called the attack an act of workplace violence, not terrorism.
Hasan was found guilty of all 42 counts by a court-martial jury on August 23, 2013, and sentenced to death days later.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth revealed in an interview with Real America’s Voice on Thursday that Hasan would be publicly executed by firing squad.
‘We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public,’ Hegseth said.
‘People need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things.’
Hegseth’s comments drew bipartisan criticism from elected officials and human rights organizations.
The UN human rights office said on Friday that broadcasting the killing ‘is tantamount to a public execution and would breach the absolute prohibition of torture.’
Democratic Senator Chris Murphy accused Hegseth of ‘mimicking’ terrorist organizations like ISIS by broadcasting the execution.
Republican Senator Thom Tillis declaried that public executions are ‘what oppressive dictatorships like Iran and Afghanistan do.’
‘It should not be happening in America,’ the North Carolina senator wrote on social media, describing the planned livestream as ‘beyond disgusting.’
Hasan is one of four inmates on death row in the US Army’s justice system.
The Justice Department announced earlier this year it would adopt firing squads as a permitted method of execution as the Trump administration moves to ramp up and expedite capital punishment cases.
