House Speaker Mike Johnson rallies with Joe Mitchell ahead of midterms

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) – House Speaker Mike Johnson visited Cedar Falls Friday to rally support for Republican congressional candidate Joe Mitchell, who is running against Democrat Lindsay James.

Johnson joined Mitchell as part of a national tour to rally support for Republicans ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Johnson highlighted Mitchell’s experience in the Iowa Legislature and emphasized Republican tax cuts and efforts to reduce regulations.

He said Republicans need voters’ support to keep control of Congress.

“In a midterm, the turnout is usually lower, even in a state like Iowa, we cannot afford to do that this time. And that’s why Joe Mitchell’s gotta win this race,” Johnson said.

Johnson also campaigned for Republican Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Davenport earlier the same day.
