Delhi Airport Issues Travel Advisory Amid Protest-Related Security Measures, Urges Passengers to Allow Extra Time
Delhi Airport has advised passengers travelling on Saturday to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time to reach the airport amid heightened security arrangements and anticipated traffic restrictions linked to a planned protest in the national capital.
In a statement, the airport urged passengers travelling to and from the facility to factor in possible delays and consider alternative transport options, including cabs and city buses, depending on availability and convenience.
The advisory comes as Delhi Police implements traffic restrictions ahead of a proposed demonstration by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which the authorities have described as unauthorised.
“In view of the enhanced security arrangements and anticipated traffic restrictions in Delhi, passengers travelling to and from Delhi Airport are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time for their commute,” the airport said.
It also asked travellers to consider alternative modes of transport to facilitate access to and from the airport, while thanking passengers for their cooperation.
Delhi Traffic Police has announced diversions in view of the anticipated law-and-order situation and advised commuters heading towards railway stations, interstate bus terminals (ISBTs) and the airport through New Delhi and Central Delhi to keep extra time for their journeys.
The police have also advised people to avoid non-essential travel. They said traffic arrangements would remain dynamic, with restrictions adjusted according to real-time assessments of conditions on the ground.
Commuters have been advised to follow official Delhi Traffic Police channels for updates on diversions, alternative routes and traffic alerts.
Additional measures have also been introduced in parts of Central Delhi. According to the advisory, internet restrictions have been imposed around the Janpath-Kartavya Path area, while 45 Delhi Metro stations were closed from 9 p.m. on Friday until Saturday evening.
Passengers and commuters have been urged to monitor official updates before setting out and account for possible delays while travelling to the airport or other transport hubs.
