Dangote Refinery Raises Diesel Price to N1,800 Per Litre Days After Cutting It
According to a report by The Daily Post on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Dangote Refinery has increased the gantry price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly called diesel, just a few days after it lowered the cost of the product.
A market survey conducted by DAILY POST on Saturday showed that the refinery now sells diesel at N1,800 per litre, up from N1,700. This means the price has gone up by N100 per litre.
Even with the increase, Dangote’s diesel is still cheaper than what depot owners are offering. Major depots, including Pivot, African Terminal and Integrated, were selling at N1,905 per litre at the time of the report. That leaves the refinery’s price N105 lower than theirs.
The latest adjustment could also affect what consumers pay at filling stations. Retail prices in Abuja and neighbouring areas currently range between N1,960 and N1,980 per litre, and the new increase may push them higher.
The price hike comes shortly after the refinery’s earlier reduction. Three days ago, Dangote cut its diesel price by N80 per litre, bringing it down to N1,700 from N1,780. That reduction has now been more than wiped out by the N100 increase.
On the global market, crude oil prices stood at $104 per barrel for Brent crude and $91 per barrel for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) at the time of filing the report.
For businesses, transporters and households that depend on diesel for power and logistics, the frequent changes in pump and gantry prices remain a major concern.
