Claude Users Say These Are The Most Useful Skills
Cheng Xin/Getty ImagesAnthropic introduced Skills to Claude in October 2025, and since then, a passionate community has grown to create, modify, and share Skills. These nifty little tools can do anything and everything from saving time in daily workflows, turning raw data into actionable insights and eye-catching graphics, and even using information you feed Claude about your processes, goals, and constraints to think of and create new Skills.
And because Skills can contain instructions, scripts, and other resources that Claude intuitively loads when they're relevant, you don't have to bother explaining the same process every time you start a new prompt. If there's a particular way you like to organize research, analyze data, write code, or handle tedious tasks, there's a good chance it can be packaged into a Skill — and a pretty high likelihood that someone else has already built something similar.
By now, there are countless Skills floating around for you to download and try out. But we've scanned developer and enthusiast communities across GitHub, Reddit, and more to collect the Skills that users (developer or otherwise) apply most. These aren't the only Skills you'd ever need, but they should provide an excellent starting platform to get comfortable using and modifying Skills on your own.

If you're just getting your feet wet with Skills, Anthropic's official skill-creator is a great starting point to help you learn the ropes and understand the structure of a Skill. It's exactly what it sounds like: a Skill for creating more Skills. You tell it what you want to achieve, and it helps Claude build the proper structure, write descriptions it can understand, and pull together any additional files it may need. To take that idea even further, Yusuf Karaaslan's Skill Seekers can use the data from an entire website, PDF, or database to create all kinds of specialized Claude Skills. One Reddit user mentioned it converted the documentation for an internal framework Claude previously knew nothing about into a usable Skill in about 10 minutes.
There's also a ton of time to be saved when researching and compiling data. The YouTube Transcript Extractor Skill can scrape and summarize videos and spit out an easy-to-read briefing, saving you from sifting through hours of footage just to find the information you're actually after. If you're researching a topic across multiple videos, for example, you can pull all of their transcripts into Claude and start reviewing and comparing the information in plain view instead of flipping between videos, trying to keep up with the parts that interest you.
Anthropic's PDF Skill is incredibly useful too, and one developer even ranked it first out of 100 tested Skills. Rather than asking Claude to scan a complicated PDF and hope for the best, it can use scripts to reliably pull info from fields, forms, and tables. It may not be the flashiest Skill you install, but if PDFs are a regular part of your workflow, there's a good chance it'll be one you use quite often.
Some of the best Skills for Claude aren't actually about giving Claude itself a new capability, but about teaching it how you work (which we found was a particular strength of Claude in our review). Take the Morning Context Dump Skill, for example. When you wake up and log onto your computer, dump everything bouncing around in your head into Claude and let the Skill organize the jumble into a prioritized action list. One tester said this Skill cut roughly 45 minutes of morning planning down to just four.
Similarly, the Meeting Debrief Skill follows the same basic philosophy. Turn a messy meeting transcript or pile of jotted-down notes into actionable insights, follow-up communications, and topics that came up in conversation but never actually got resolved. The Competitor Teardown Skill is a bit more specialized, but potentially even more useful depending on your line of work. Feed the Skill a competitor's website, pricing page, and public case studies, and Claude can organize that information to highlight info such as your competitor's target audience, areas where you're already ahead, and opportunities to capture more traffic.
Finally, the Explainer Graphic Skill is a fantastic tool to turn mundane data and research into an engaging, easy-to-read resource. Claude isn't the best at native image generation, but give this Skill a difficult concept (or concepts) and it creates an HTML explainer page using step by step instructions, short sections of key info, and analogies to make it easier to digest.
