All About Jessica Chastain’s Husband, Italian Nobleman Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo

They tied the knot in June 2017 at his family's lavish Villa Tiepolo Passi, located a little ways outside of Venice.

Chastain and her husband share two children: a daughter named Giuletta, born in 2018; and a son named Augustus, born in 2020.

Jessica Chastain found her happily ever after with husband Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, an Italian count.

That's right—the Other Mommy star is technically a countess, although noble titles in Italy are honorary rather than tied to legal ranks. Chastain received the title when she and the former fashion exec tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at his family's Villa Tiepolo Passi, held in June 2017.

Five years earlier, they'd fatefully crossed paths for the first time at a Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture fashion show in Paris, aka the "City of Love." Passi de Preposulo was the head of public relations for the house, while Chastain was attending as a VIP.

The day was a memorable one for the actress even before she met the love of her life. "It's incredible because the day that Gian Luca and I met was the day that I got nominated for an Oscar [for The Help]," she explained on Live With Kelly and Ryan in December 2017, adding with a laugh, "It's probably the best day I ever had."

They went public with their relationship in 2013, and the rest is Hollywood history. Since tying the knot, the pair have welcomed two children. While they're raising their kids out of the spotlight, they'll occasionally share a glimpse at their lives as a happy family of four.

Passi de Preposulo hails from Carbonera, Italy, he shared in a 2020 appearance on the Business Class podcast. His family owns and inhabits an opulent 17th-century villa that also serves as a "cultural tourism destination," per the Villa Tiepolo Passi website.

"It is about 20 minutes from Venice," the count explained. "And [it] was very lucky to grow up in the countryside, and surrounded by vineyards…with really a big family around me, and surrounded by also [a] fantastic environment: the hills of Prosecco with Valdobbiadene, Venice, the Dolomites." He added that he moved to Milan once he turned 18 and spent the next 12 years of his life going back and forth, building a career in the fashion industry.

When he met Chastain, Passi de Preposulo was working as director of public relations for Giorgio Armani. He later moved to Moncler, managing celebrities and events, per WWD. As of 2026, his LinkedIn lists him as Chairman of the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, a competitive high-performance sailing franchise.

Back in 2010, the entrepreneur co-founded prosecco brand Fiol with some of his childhood friends, inspired by their personal connections to the wine. "Every year, we would do the harvest with our parents and grandparents," he recalled to Business Insider in 2018, "and at the end, there was a big celebratory lunch and dinner with all of our family and friends—that was where I had my first prosecco tasting."

In 2018, Chastain opened up to The Wall Street Journal about how her views on marriage shifted when she began dating her future husband. "He knew that marriage wasn't something I was interested in," she told the outlet. "And then as we got to know each other, the idea of marriage shifted for me. There are some things worth celebrating—and he's worth celebrating."

After their fairytale wedding in Italy, they spent their honeymoon on a safari in Africa, she revealed during her Live With Kelly and Ryan appearance. Her husband appears to be a big fan of animals, posting about them on his Instagram as far back as 2013.

Passi de Preposulo and Chastain are on their way to having a big family of their own. The longtime couple became parents in 2018, welcoming a daughter named Giuletta. In 2020, they expanded their family, welcoming a son named Augustus. Chastain thanked her husband and their kids as she accepted her career-first Oscar for Best Actress in 2022, awarded for her powerhouse performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. "Il mio tesoro [my darling], Giulietta, Augustus, you are my heart," she said at the close of her speech.
