7 people killed in two separate incidents in the Zululand region

A manhunt is under way following a shooting that left three people dead at a grocery store in eShowe this (Saturday) afternoon.

It is reported that the suspect is a former employee of the store, who had gone to the store for his internal disciplinary hearing.

“The suspect allegedly produced a firearm and shot three people, who were declared dead at the scene. A manhunt for the suspect is under way,” police said in a statement.

Police are also investigating three counts of murder, one attempted murder and an inquest following a shooting that left four people dead at a tavern in KwaMsane in the early hours of this (Saturday) morning.

An off-duty police constable allegedly shot and killed three women and injured a man before turning the gun on himself.

“Police responded to reports of a shooting at a liquor establishment in the Nkodibe area in KwaMsane, and when they arrived they found four bodies with gunshot wounds, and one victim with a gunshot wound who was taken to hospital.

“It is reported that the off-duty police constable also disarmed another man of his firearm during the incident. Both firearms were found at the scene. The cause of the shooting is unknown at this stage,” police said.
