41-year-old woman accused of driving impaired after killing pedestrian in east Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – A 41-year-old woman was accused of driving while impaired when she killed a pedestrian in east Charlotte on Thursday night.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, police said 41-year-old Joca Stringfellow allegedly hit Christopher Easterling on Eastway Drive near Independence Boulevard. Police said a Cadillac DTS with front end damage and its driver, Stringfellow, remained at the scene of the crash.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Easterling was walking outside a marked crosswalk while crossing Eastway Drive when Stringfellow allegedly hit him.

Police found Stringfellow to be impaired and she was placed under arrest for driving while impaired. She was taken into custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
