Wild moment swerving helicopter shoots flames and smoke over fancy SoCal country club

Shocking footage shows a black helicopter making daring maneuvers around trees, shooting off pyrotechnics and swerving through smoke at the Newport Beach Country Club.

Orange County realtor Nicole Dishon captured the heart-pounding spectacle and posted it to Instagram, marveling at the over-the-top show.

“The coolest night at Newport Beach Country Club! Unbelievable and so amazing. I’m in awe!” she wrote.

The dramatic display was enough to prompt local police to reassure nearby residents that the commotion was nothing to fear.

“Residents near Newport Beach Country Club may notice increased noise and activity during a private event from 5:45– 6:00 p.m. The event will include a helicopter flyover, fireworks, loud noises, and theatrical smoke effects as part of a planned demonstration,” the Newport Beach Police Department wrote on X.

“The demonstration is expected to last approximately 15 minutes. These effects are part of a planned event and are not a cause for concern. We appreciate your understanding.”

The spectacle appeared to be part of the opening gala for the Seal Future Foundation, a nonprofit that supports Navy SEALs as they leave military service and transition to civilian life.

The organization provides support for their well-being, education and careers as they continue serving their communities.

The helicopter itself has a Hollywood connection. Registration records identify it as belonging to Long Beach-based HOLLYWOODS ASTAR LLC, whose owners include famed movie helicopter pilot Fred North, according to the Nantucket Current.

North has worked on major Hollywood productions including “Armageddon,” “Seven Years in Tibet” and Marvel blockbusters such as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”

Newport Beach is located about 48 miles southeast from downtown LA in Orange County.
