What Friends To Abdi Did When Detectives Tried To Arrest Him In Homa Bay

A police operation in Homa Bay has led to the arrest of a man described as a goon mobiliser, together with seven others accused of getting in the way of officers as they moved to arrest him. The operation took place at the Homa Bay Bus Stage.

Officers trailed and arrested Kassim Abdi Sebo on the strength of a warrant issued by the Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14, 2026. The police did not say what charges he faces, so the reasons behind the warrant remain unclear for now.

The arrest took an unexpected turn when seven men who were with the suspect allegedly tried to obstruct the officers. According to police, the men interfered as the team was carrying out the operation. The officers moved in quickly and arrested all seven.

They were identified as Achiando Victor Odhiambo, Isaac Masika Muliro alias Waigo, Oyeke Geoffrey Moses, Geoffrey Nchore, Odhiambo Wesley Arnold alias Mwas, Joseph Kabira and Alfred Nyagino. The allegations against them are yet to be tested in court, and they remain suspects until a court says otherwise.

All eight are in custody, where they are being processed ahead of their arraignment. Police are expected to present them before a court soon and may ask for more time to complete their investigations.

The operation comes as authorities keep up pressure on people accused of organising or hiring groups of youths for political events. Such groups have been blamed for violence and intimidation during past gatherings, and security agencies have promised to deal firmly with anyone linked to them as the next general election gets closer.
