Police say a 19-year-old driver lost control on Bucksport Road, crossed Main Street and hit two homes.

Officers say the passenger, 25-year-old Paul Meservey, died at the scene.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to Bangor.

One of the homes was occupied at the time of the crash, but police say no one inside was hurt.

The investigation into the cause remains open and active, and officials are reminding drivers to slow down and pay attention.

"We've had several accidents over the years. DOT's redone that intersection, I think, three times during my career here at Ellsworth PD," Ellsworth Police Deputy Chief Shawn Willey said.
