Union SG Hit The Jackpot: Mofokeng’s Value Doubles Just Months After R65.3M Move

After a stellar first season with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium, Relebohile Mofokeng’s stated market worth jumped from €3 million to €6 million, continuing his meteoric climb in European football.

After leaving Orlando Pirates, the 21-year-old forward has embraced European football with ease, creating an instant impression for Union SG and drawing more and more attention with each game.

Recent reports indicate that Mofokeng’s market worth has increased by 100%, which is a reflection of the high expectations around his potential.

His promising start in Belgium has added to the buzz. According to reports, Mofokeng has appeared in six games for the Belgian Pro League, scoring three goals and assisting on another. He has scored in league play against Sint-Truiden and Lommel and also had an assist in Union SG’s 2-0 win against Antwerp.

He has had an impact outside the realm of domestic competition. Mofokeng scored his first goal in the Europa League in September, his team’s 3-0 win against Viktoria Plzeň, providing him another chance to show off his skills in front of an international audience.

Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, Napoli, and Brighton are all among the notable European teams keeping tabs on the youngster’s progress due to his impressive achievements.

He had a successful stint with Orlando Pirates before moving on to Belgium. In 27 league appearances during the 2025/26 PSL season, Mofokeng supposedly had a goal and an assist per game.

Before moving to Belgium, he has 81 league games during his PSL career, scoring 19 goals and assisting on 21 more.

For Bafana Bafana, Mofokeng has also maintained his influence. He gained even more notoriety after scoring twice in South Africa’s 5-0 qualification triumph against Eritrea for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

His quick rise to prominence has been a boon for Union SG, who have seen a promising return on their investment; added to this, he is reportedly valued at €6 million.

Mofokeng is still in the early stages of his career in Europe, despite the promising start. If he wants to cement his place in Belgium and live up to the hype that surrounded him as a young striker in South Africa, he’ll need to keep up the good work and be consistent.
