Apple reportedly prepares two major product launches in October

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch new MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens and a redesigned iPad mini on or around October 27, according to Bloomberg.

The planned launch is also expected to include a 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by Apple’s M6 chip and an updated iMac.

The report follows Apple’s expected October 13 unveiling of a new smart home hub, an updated Apple TV 4K and a refreshed HomePod mini. Both October launch events are expected to feature online video presentations and hands-on sessions for members of the media.

Apple has reportedly been developing an OLED MacBook for several years. The upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch models are expected to remain part of the MacBook Pro family, despite speculation that the company could introduce a new MacBook Ultra name.

The redesigned laptops are expected to be thinner and lighter than current MacBook Pro models. Their key features are reportedly set to include OLED displays, touchscreen functionality and Dynamic Island, a feature Apple currently uses on its iPhones to display alerts and ongoing activities.

The move would mark a significant change for the MacBook Pro lineup, bringing touchscreen interaction to Apple’s professional laptops.

The next iPad mini is also expected to receive an OLED display, replacing the technology used in current models.

Other reported changes include a landscape-oriented front camera designed to improve video calls and a redesigned speaker system.

The display upgrade and hardware changes would refresh Apple’s smallest tablet as the company prepares a broader round of product announcements in October.

Apple has not confirmed the reported launch date or specifications of the upcoming devices.
