Todd Bowles Spotted Dropping To His Knee In Excruciating Pain During Concerning TNF Moment — Details Reveal What Really Happened
Todd Bowles took a hit during the Buccaneers’ celebration late in Thursday night’s win over the Cowboys.
Cameras showed the Bucs head coach on one knee, grimacing on the sideline in the fourth quarter. Footage shows Bowles dropping down with 1:04 left and Tampa Bay ahead 24-16.
According to ProFootballTalk, Bowles took a helmet to the stomach while the team celebrated an Alex Anzalone interception and a Bucky Irving run.
ESPN’s Jenna Laine shared an explanation via X. “He said he caught a celebration helmet to the gut but says he’ll be OK,” she wrote.
Fox Sports’ Greg Auman offered a similar account. Bowles “took some friendly fire in celebration on the sideline,” Auman posted, according to Pro Football Network. Auman said Bowles was in pain for a moment but OK soon after.
Reports did not name the player who delivered the celebratory hit. Bowles also spoke to reporters after the game. He was not asked about the moment, PFT noted.
The win marked Tampa Bay’s first of the season. Rookie Jalon Daniels went 19 of 25 for 189 yards in his second start, filling in after Baker Mayfield’s thumb injury.
Bowles also made a risky call earlier in the fourth quarter. Tampa Bay led 24-10 and went for it on fourth-and-goal from the 1. The play failed, and Dallas drove 99 yards for a touchdown. Bowles said “we were trying to put the game away,” according to PFT’s Mike Florio. Florio added that cornerback DaRon Bland nearly had a pick-six on that drive before a bounce ended it.
Dallas has dealt with its own postgame fallout. Dak Prescott’s tense moment in the tunnel also drew attention.
