Three From Warsaw Arrested On Drug Charges
WARSAW – Three people from Warsaw are facing drug charges following a traffic stop.
Kacynda Ione Northrup, 38, 2709 Glad St., Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a narcotic drug with a prior dealing conviction, both level 5 felonies; possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe, both level 6 felonies; and possession of methamphetamine with a prior dealing conviction, a level 4 felony.
Gavin Thomas Byall, 36, 2709 Glad St., Warsaw, is charged with possession of a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a syringe, both level 6 felonies; resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction, both class A misdemeanors; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
Shana Elizabeth Hunziker, 33, 2709 Glad St., Warsaw, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony.
On Sept. 10, a Warsaw Police officer with the NET 43 Drug Task Force noticed a tailgating vehicle and pulled it over, identifying Northrup as the vehicle’s driver and Hunziker and Byall as passengers.
According to court documents, a K9 unit at the scene positively alerted to illegal drugs in the vehicle. In searching the vehicle, officers found a container that tested positive for fentanyl, a narcotic drug.
While taking Northrup into custody, Byall fled from the area on foot and disregarded officers’ commands to stop. K9 officers located Byall, who appeared to be overdosing. Byall was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later admitted to consuming Xanax.
In a further search of Northrup’s vehicle, officers found a used syringe, new hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia, and containers that tested positive for meth and fentanyl.
While searching Northrup’s person at the Kosciusko County Jail, officers found a bag containing 8.8 grams of meth.
Byall was previously convicted of paraphernalia possession in September 2022. Northrup was previously convicted of dealing a narcotic drug in Kosciusko County in April 2016.
Northrup has already been arrested and released on bond. Hunziker and Byall have been arrested and released on their own recognizance.
Byall has an initial hearing at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Kosciusko Superior Court One.
