THPD: 3 men charged after ‘harassing’ homeless individual in downtown

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Three Terre Haute men are facing charges after police said they were “harassing an individual experiencing homelessness” near the entrance of a downtown parking garage.
According to a social media post from the Terre Haute Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Skybridge Parking Garage in downtown Terre Haute just after midnight on Friday, after a “disturbance involving several individuals” was reported.
Police said they were advised that at least one of the individuals was armed with a gun.
Once the officer arrived on the scene and spoke with witnesses and a victim, it was revealed that three men had allegedly been harassing a homeless individual.
“The harassment reportedly included pouring water on the individual and interfering with his personal belongings,” said police.
As the victim attempted to escape the three men, officials said several good Samaritans stepped in to assist.
“During that confrontation, one suspect allegedly produced a handgun and threatened those attempting to help, while at least one other suspect reportedly shoved multiple individuals to the ground,” said THPD officials.
The suspects were eventually located and detained. Police said two handguns were recovered from the suspects.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been taken into custody:
All three men have been transported to the Vigo County Jail, where they remain in custody.
