Tears And Hugs—Nurses Welcome Colleague Salomey Home After Weeks In Cells Over ‘Ghana Jollof’ TikTok
The 40-year-old Senior Nursing Officer from Techiman was warmly welcomed by her fellow nurses after spending about three weeks in police custody.
She was arrested over her alleged links to the controversial “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account — an account accused of publishing false news.
On Monday, October 5, the Adenta Circuit Court 1 granted her bail.
The bail was GH¢100,000 with two sureties. The two sureties must be civil servants earning at least GH¢3,000 a month.
The court charged her with abetment of crime — meaning she allegedly helped in the publication of false news linked to the “Ghana Jollof” account.
Her lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who is also MP for Manhyia South, welcomed the decision. Her case has now been adjourned to February 17, 2027.
When Salomey finally returned home, her nursing colleagues could not hide their joy.
For them, Salomey is not a criminal. She is a senior colleague, a mother, a nurse who has served for years.
They said the weeks she spent behind bars were painful for the whole nursing family.
The “Ghana Jollof” case is still in court, but for Salomey and her colleagues, today is a day of relief.
