Susan Boyle’s journey from a small Scottish town to international stardom will be explored in a new BBC documentary airing over the festive period.

There’s Only One Susan Boyle will air on BBC One Scotland and BBC iPlayer on December 31, featuring an interview with the singer alongside contributions from her friends and family.

Boyle shot to fame in 2009 when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent with a performance of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables.

The programme, from Tern TV, will document Boyle’s childhood in Blackburn, West Lothian, to the audition that launched her music career.

Boyle said: “I’m delighted to be sharing my story in this new documentary with the team at Tern.

“My life changed overnight after Britain’s Got Talent, and it has been an extraordinary and unexpected journey ever since.

Boyle’s debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, was released in 2009 and went to number one in the UK.

She has released a further six albums with her most recent, A Wonderful World, coming out in 2016.

There’s Only One Susan Boyle will air on December 31.
