Some Ghanaians Commend Sales Girl for Quick Thinking After Locking Armed Robber Inside Shop

A South African shop attendant has won praise online after CCTV footage showed her outsmarting an armed robber who walked into the store. According to the footage shared by Akoma 87.9 FM based in Kumasi on October 8, 2026, the sales girl reacted swiftly when the man entered, slipped out of the shop and locked the door behind her, leaving him trapped inside.

The video quickly drew attention from Ghanaian social media users, many of whom applauded her presence of mind and courage under pressure. A large number of commenters said her decision to escape and secure the premises, rather than panic or confront the suspect, showed exceptional composure. Some went further, suggesting her employers should reward her handsomely, with a few jokingly proposing that she deserves a stake in the company for protecting its assets.

Humor dominated much of the conversation. Several users turned the incident into wordplay, drawing comparisons from football, agriculture and mathematics to describe how the roles at the shop were suddenly reversed, with the robber ending up confined while the attendant walked free. Others imagined the intruder being stuck in the shop for days, while some playfully teased his lack of cleverness.

Not everyone focused on the lighter side. A few commenters raised practical questions, wondering how the attendant could have identified the man as an armed robber so quickly. Others pondered why a suspect who came to steal would end up fleeing, while some jested that there was no longer any need to call the police since he was effectively already behind bars.

There were also tongue-in-cheek suggestions about what the robber might have done to escape blame, including pretending he had simply come to shop. Overall, the reactions blended admiration, amusement and curiosity.

The incident has become a talking point, highlighting both the value of quick thinking in dangerous situations and the Ghanaian online community’s talent for turning real-life events into entertaining commentary.
