RIP: Nairobi Taxi Driver Kills Married Woman for Rejecting Him Before Committing Suicide

A 35-year-old woman has been killed at her home in Trans Nzoia County, leaving her family devastated. The victim, Sally Sitawa Saenyi, was allegedly murdered by a Nairobi-based taxi driver who reportedly refused to stop pursuing her despite her rejection of his romantic advances.

Sally was attacked at her residence in Kibomet, near Kitale Town. Her relatives identified the suspect as Patrick Silali Barasa, also known as Jeff, and said he had continued seeking her affection even though he knew she was married.

According to the family, Sally had reported Barasa to the police after he allegedly threatened to kill her when she declined his advances.

Her father, Justus Saenyi, questioned the authorities’ response to the reported threats, arguing that faster action could have helped avert the tragedy.

Police believe Barasa travelled from Nairobi, where he worked as a taxi driver, to confront Sally at her home. He allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing multiple wounds to her neck and back.

Neighbours took the injured woman to Cherangany Nursing Home, where medical staff confirmed her death.

Her remains were subsequently moved to the mortuary at Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital, pending a postmortem examination.

The incident has angered the family and local residents, who are calling for justice and demanding a more effective response from police when people report threats or harassment.

In a further development, Barasa was found dead in a lodging in Moi’s Bridge Township hours after Sally’s killing. Authorities had been searching for him since the attack.

Kiminini Sub-County Police Commander John Onditi confirmed that Barasa was the main suspect in Sally’s murder.

Investigators are now working to establish the circumstances of his death while the community seeks answers about both incidents.
