Person shot by ICE officers in New York City

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. during an ICE enforcement operation along Marble Hill Avenue, those sources said.
One source said the person was apparently in a vehicle when at least one officer opened fire. That person was expected to survive.
The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.
A massive law enforcement investigation surrounded a black sedan believed to be the vehicle where the person was shot. A senior official said a 5-year-old child was in the back seat at the time of the incident.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said that early reports indicate officers surrounded the man and a 5-year-old child in his car in the Marble Hill neighborhood and that the child was physically unharmed.
Multiple law enforcement sources said the team of ICE officers was in the neighborhood looking for a man with a criminal record. A senior official said the suspect had a past robbery arrest resulting in a grand larceny conviction and a current open drug case.
Homeland Security and the FBI are responding to the scene in addition to the New York Police Department, which confirmed the shooting by âfederal law enforcement agentsâ on X.
Mamdani called the shooting âan unconscionable and incredibly serious situationâ in a statement on X.
âI have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities,â he wrote. âGet ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.â
Gov. Kathy Hochul said that she had been briefed on the shooting and that she expected a detailed report from federal authorities about what happened.
âWe expect federal authorities to provide a full and transparent accounting of the circumstances surrounding this incident. New Yorkers deserve to know exactly what happened and why,â she wrote on X.
