“Ndiye Huyu” Breakthrough as Notorious Gang Leader Is Finally Arrested at His Homa Bay Hideout

The police have made a major breakthrough after arresting a notorious gang leader of the Hammer Boys terror group in Homa Bay.

Kassim Abdi Sebo, widely known as Abdi, was apprehended on Thursday night at Homa Bay Bus Stage as officers moved to enforce an arrest warrant issued by the Homa Bay Law Courts on August 14, 2026.According to police, Sebo was being sought over an assault case in which a victim allegedly sustained bodily injuries.

The offence is covered under Section 251 of the Penal Code.

His arrest reportedly sparked confusion after seven men who were accompanying him allegedly attempted to block officers from taking him into custody.

The situation prompted the deployment of additional police officers to help restore order.

The operation was carried out at approximately 9:55 pm by officers from Homa Bay Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), under the leadership of County Police Commander Lawrence Koilem.

The seven men were arrested on suspicion of obstructing officers as they carried out the operation.

They were identified as Victor Odhiambo Achiando, 26; Isaac Masika Muliro, alias Waigo, 30; Moses Geoffrey Oyege, 27; Geoffrey Njore, 25; Wesley Arnold Odhiambo, alias Mwas, 26; Joseph Kobila, 28; and Alfred Nyagiro Aliwa, 26.All eight suspects remained in police custody awaiting their court appearance.

Investigators have also associated Sebo with several alleged robbery and assault incidents reported in the region.

His name has recently featured in enquiries into violent clashes in Homa Bay that reportedly claimed at least 10 lives, including that of a police officer.

The unrest also left several people injured, vehicles damaged and journalists attacked while covering a political rally.

Before his arrest, police had instructed Sebo to present himself at the DCI offices at the Homa Bay County headquarters to assist with investigations into the violence. However, he allegedly ignored the directive.

Sebo is reportedly the head of the Hammer Boys gang, a group mentioned in allegations surrounding political mobilisation and violence in the area.

Claims have also emerged linking him to senior political and government officials, although these allegations have not been independently verified.

His arrest comes as investigators continue examining the recent clashes and other reported criminal activities in Homa Bay. The suspects are expected to face the relevant charges in court, where the allegations against them can be addressed.
