NCCIA arrests 281 suspects during operations against cybercrimes
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore Zone is continuing its operations against cybercrimes and during these actions, 281 suspects were arrested from seven illegal call centers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, Additional Director NCCIA Lahore Zone, Atif Ameer stated that the arrested individuals included 20 women and foreign nationals.
Mobile phones, computers, laptops, other digital devices, and SIM cards were recovered from the suspects during the raids.
Three suspects were arrested for sharing objectionable material involving children, and one suspect was arrested for online harassment and the sharing of objectionable images and videos.
Additionally, suspects involved in five cases and ten inquiries related to financial fraud were also arrested.
The NCCIA (Lahore) has focused heavily on combating child pornography.
Three suspects involved in child pornography were apprehended in Lahore within a single week.
The NCCIA has signed agreements with global AI-based organizations.
AI identified a suspect in Gujranwala, leading to his subsequent arrest. Two of the cases involve serious harassment.
A suspect named Zaheer stole a mobile phone containing a woman’s private photos; he then blackmailed the woman and extorted money from her.
Another suspect was arrested last night in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura.
Financial fraud is rampant and funds amounting to Rs14 million have been recovered in the last few days.
Seven call centers were busted over the past four to five days. These operations involved financial fraud, harassment, and honey-trapping schemes.
Men and women were arrested from these call centers and 1,100 electronic devices were seized and sent for forensic analysis.
Illegal call centers will not be allowed to operate in Lahore under any circumstances.
