Mike Johnson Has Another Job In Mind If GOP Loses House — And You’ll Never Guess What It Is
The data suggests Democrats could take back the House of Representatives next month, partly because President Donald Trump’s unpopularity with voters is swelling. Should that happen, Johnson would no longer be speaker.
So what would he do instead? He answered in a Thursday interview with Fox News reporter Aishah Hasnie, saying he might leave politics altogether and start a “lawn business.”
“Heaven forbid, if we lose this majority or whatever, I don’t know what my next chapter of life is,” Johnson told Hasnie. “If God moves on our hearts and says we should, you know, go back to my hometown of Shreveport and start a lawn business, I’ll do that with equal fervor.
“ I mean, I just want to be of my highest and best use… to God and to my country.”
Hasnie’s post didn’t include audio, so it’s unclear if Johnson was being tongue-in-cheek when he answered.
HuffPost reached out to his office for clarification, but no one responded immediately.
However, many people on X took the quote at face value, and, of course, they had thoughts.
