Marion home invasion caught on doorbell camera prompts safety concerns
MARION, SC (WMBF) – A home invasion caught on a front doorbell camera has the Marion community thinking about their own safety.
Marion resident Jonneshia Wilson, a mother of five young children, said seeing the video made her think about what she would do if someone broke into her home.
āOh, yeah. Being that I have five kids, and theyāre all under the age of six, I donāt know what I wouldāve done if somebody busted into my house. They probably wouldnāt have made it out, honestly. I probably wouldāve chased them to the door with the gun, so she did better than me,ā Wilson said.
Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers said the video could help investigators find the people responsible.
āJust be aware of your surroundings. Ring cameras and stuff like that really help us a lot, especially in this case. Any neighbors that may have video footage of the guys in that area, reach out to us and let us know,ā Flowers said.
After seeing the video, Wilson said sheās now thinking about getting a camera for her own home.
āNow Iām really thinking about getting one, because that helps the cops a lot, too, to be able to identify the people. But it also puts an ease on the person that lives there, because now I can see who comes to my door,ā Wilson said.
Marion police have identified persons of interest in the investigation. They are not releasing those names at this time.
