KMTC Student Anne Adhiambo Killed Days Before Graduation Over Pair of Trousers

Anne Adhiambo, a 29-year-old student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nairobi Campus, tragically lost her life just days before her expected graduation, leaving her family devastated and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Adhiambo was pursuing a Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and had joined the institution in September 2024. She was reportedly in her final year and was said to be the only daughter in her family.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the morning of July 7, 2026, when Adhiambo left Room 220 at the Mary Griffin Hostel, allegedly intending to attend church. During her movement, she reportedly encountered another student wearing a pair of trousers she had been searching for. The discovery allegedly sparked a disagreement that eventually escalated.

Reports indicate that Adhiambo was subsequently persuaded to enter a ground-floor hostel room where five other female students were present. Investigations later revealed disturbing details about the injuries she sustained during the encounter.

A post-mortem examination conducted at Nairobi Funeral Home reportedly established that she had suffered severe head injuries caused by a blunt object. Investigators also observed marks around her neck and tongue, suggesting possible strangulation. Bite marks were reportedly found on her abdomen, while blood was observed around her nose and ears.

The examination ruled out suicide, pointing instead towards a suspected violent attack.

Adhiambo’s body was discovered later that night by her roommate, who returned from classes at approximately 11 p.m. and found her lying on the floor of Room 220, obstructing the doorway.

The five students allegedly linked to the incident reportedly left the campus shortly afterwards. Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kasarani subsequently took charge of the case. As of the latest updates in August 2026, authorities had not announced any arrests.

KMTC stated that it was cooperating with investigators by providing CCTV footage and security records to assist efforts to establish what happened.

In the days following the tragedy, Adhiambo’s parents visited the campus to collect her personal belongings. Her mother was reportedly seen praying at the entrance, overcome by grief, while her father expressed uncertainty about how to handle their daughter’s possessions.

The family had expected to celebrate her academic achievement, but instead departed with her belongings following her death. Her tragic passing cut short her medical career before graduation and left her loved ones mourning a future that would never be realised.
