Key NPP Members Who Have Joined Dr. Amoakoh Baah’s New Political Movement
Political analyst and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has announced the establishment of a new political group, the New Patriotic Front (NPF), as concerns over divisions within the NPP continue.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme, he said more than 30 prominent individuals had joined the newly formed movement.
Dr. Amoako Baah explained that the initiative was established to address concerns about the NPP’s leadership and the direction in which the party was heading. He noted that the NPF had developed into a broader platform for people who believe the party has moved away from the principles on which it was founded.
He added that some NPP supporters living in the United States had reached out to him to express dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and internal operations.
According to Dr. Amoako Baah, the NPP leadership has shown little tolerance for dissenting opinions and has not provided sufficient opportunities for constructive criticism. He also blamed the party’s limited engagement with grassroots supporters and its failure to consider alternative perspectives for contributing to its 2024 electoral defeat.
He further questioned the party’s commitment to post-election reforms, arguing that more needed to be done to promote inclusiveness and improve decision-making.
The formation of the NPF introduces a new development into Ghana’s political landscape and could affect the NPP if additional dissatisfied members join the movement. Dr. Amoako Baah maintained that unresolved internal conflicts could make it more difficult for the party to rebuild and achieve unity before future elections.
The NPP has not yet provided a detailed public response to the allegations. However, the announcement has reignited debate about the party’s leadership, the need for reconciliation and possible reforms.
The coming months may reveal how the NPF intends to operate and what role it will play in Ghanaian politics, particularly in relation to the NPP’s internal affairs and future activities.
