Iyabo Ojo Came All The Way To Akure To Fight For Me In My Previous Marriage —Actress Toyosi Adesanya

Veteran Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya, popularly known as the “Industry Encyclopaedia,” has defended her decision to attend the birthday celebration of actress Iyabo Ojo’s grandson, Rakeem, following criticism directed at those who attended the event. The actress made this known during an interview on Oyinmomo TV on Friday, October 9, 2026.

Adesanya explained that her relationship with Iyabo Ojo went beyond the disagreements between the actress and other individuals, stressing that their long-standing friendship and the support she received during some of the most difficult periods of her life made her attendance necessary.

Describing herself as a blunt person, Adesanya questioned why anyone would expect her to stay away from the event because of a misunderstanding involving people close to Iyabo Ojo. “I am a very blunt person. I am not a baby. Education is to solve problems. If two people have a misunderstanding, if one of them decides to pick on everybody close to the person she has issues with,” she said.

Adesanya further claimed that the individual criticising the attendees had insulted everyone who attended Rakeem’s birthday, but maintained that she had personal reasons for celebrating with Iyabo Ojo and her family. “She insulted all of us that attended Rakeem’s birthday. Please, why would I not have attended Rakeem’s birthday?” she asked.

According to Adesanya, Iyabo Ojo was present when she had her baby, describing the actress’s support as one of the reasons she would not abandon her during an important family celebration. “Iyabo Ojo represented when I had my baby. We have been together since 2002. Iyabo stood by me when I was trying to conceive,” she stated.

She disclosed that in 2014, Iyabo Ojo contacted her former husband and other individuals she said were making her life difficult in Akure. “Iyabo came all the way to Akure to fight for me in my previous marriage. In 2014, Iyabo called my ex-husband. She called the people that were making my life difficult in Akure. She asked if they wanted to kill me,” Adesanya recounted.

Defending her decision to attend Rakeem’s birthday, Adesanya questioned why she should ignore an occasion that mattered to someone who had stood firmly by her when she needed help. “Why won’t I perform my responsibility when a grandson is celebrating his birthday?” she said.
