Iran: This War Is Not Working, We Are Losing; There Is A Cover Up Campaign Underway Right Now–Murphy

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Friday October 9, 2026, US Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has described Washington’s war against Iran as a “national humiliation,” criticising the conflict over its security implications, rising costs and alleged lack of transparency.

In a post on X, Murphy argued that the military campaign was harming American interests rather than improving the country’s security.

“It’s making us less safe and driving up prices on everything,” he wrote.

The senator also accused US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth of restricting his access to American military installations and military leaders during a recent visit to the Middle East. Murphy alleged that the restrictions were intended to prevent him from discovering the actual situation surrounding the war.

Murphy expressed concern about the progress of the military operation, questioning its effectiveness and warning that the United States was facing significant setbacks.

“This war is not working, we are losing,” he said.

He further alleged that officials were attempting to conceal the consequences of the conflict from the public, particularly its financial and military costs.

“There is a cover up campaign underway right now, so the American people don’t see the actual cost of this war,” Murphy added.

The Democratic senator also pointed to what he described as extensive damage to American military installations across Gulf countries, claiming the destruction had resulted in billions of dollars in losses.

He called for greater openness regarding the damage sustained by US bases and criticised the reported restrictions preventing lawmakers from inspecting the affected facilities.

“Not a single member of Congress is allowed in [to US bases] to see that damage because Trump doesn’t want Americans to know what a debacle this has been,” Murphy said.
