Catherine Zeta-Jones has addressed the buzz around her husband Michael Douglas’s new memoir, revealing she has “no intention” of reading it.

The Welsh star, 57, married Douglas, 82, in 2000 after a year of dating. He writes about their relationship in his headline-generating new book, One Helluva Ride.

He also documents his many relationships before meeting Zeta-Jones, as well as confessing to affairs during his marriage to Diandra Luke (the couple separated on a number of occasions) with his Romancing the Stone co-star Kathleen Turner and the film’s writer Diane Thomas, and Basic Instinct star Jeanne Tripplehorn.

In a recent interview, Douglas confirmed that his wife has yet to read the book – now, in her own interview, it appears that the Return of Zorro star has confirmed she has no plans to pick up a copy.

“Look, I’ve just finished [shooting Netflix series] Wednesday for season three,” she told Today show host Willie Geist while on the promotional trail for her new series, Kill Jackie. “We shot in Dublin for seven months, and then I just literally got on a Ryanair plane and landed in London – did all of the Kill Jackie stuff.”

Recalling her busy schedule, Zeta-Jones continued: “Then I went to Bilbao, Spain, and now I’m here talking to you [on the] fabulous Today show.”

She jokingly added: “And as much as I love my husband, when I’m tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him… at all.”

Still, Zeta-Jones recommended the book to others: “The book is called One Helluva Ride, and I think everyone should hold onto their cowboy hats, because I think it is.”

Douglas and Zeta-Jones temporarily split in August 2013, months after Douglas controversially blamed developing cancer of the tongue on oral sex.

His publicist later retracted the remarks and said Douglas had not been referring to his cancer.

The couple were then reported to have reconciled in November that year. In 2015, Douglas said he regretted “any embarrassment” that his remarks had caused Zeta-Jones.

However, he appeared to take exception to the idea that he had “won her back” in his Sunday Times interview, calling it a “mutual” decision.

“You know, we had our problems but I love her dearly and, 25 years, you know,” he said, referring to their lengthy relationship.

“I mean, I don’t know about your marital status, but marriage is a lot of work, you know,” he continued. “And so, you know, we’re good. We’re in good shape. It’s all I can say.”

Elsewhere in his memoir, Douglas offers unflinching accounts of his love life, his substance abuse struggles, and growing up with his Hollywood legend of a father, Kirk Douglas.

While the young Michael Douglas was raised mostly in a home with his mother, the actor Diana Dill, at his father’s house he rubbed elbows with the likes of Tony Curtis, Frank Sinatra, Walt Disney and Gregory Peck.

Later, he recalls his wild life in his early days pursuing his own film career – against the advice of his father, who wanted him to be a lawyer – from sharing a flat with best friend Danny DeVito to the time Steve McQueen gifted him a Porsche after casting him in a film.
