Authority warns operators of fines, vehicle suspensions, permit cancellations for violations
Balochistan has tightened security measures for passenger buses and inter-district public service vehicles, making functional CCTV cameras and comprehensive passenger records mandatory to strengthen monitoring and prevent security threats.
According to a notification issued by the Provincial Transport Authority, transport operators must maintain detailed passenger information, verify travellers’ identities and immediately report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
Under the new security directives, passenger bus operators are required to preserve complete records of travellers for at least 10 days.
The records must include each passenger’s name, father’s name, national identity card number, permanent address and mobile phone number.
The guidelines also prohibit individuals from travelling without identification documents, making identity verification a mandatory requirement for passengers using buses and inter-district public transport services.
The notification makes the installation of high-quality, functional CCTV cameras compulsory in all passenger buses operating in Balochistan.
The measure aims to strengthen surveillance and improve the monitoring of passenger movement amid security concerns across the province.
Transport operators have also been directed to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities without delay.
The new directives instruct transport operators to refrain from facilitating travel for illegal immigrants.
The requirements form part of the provincial authorities’ broader efforts to tighten security checks and ensure that passenger transport services comply with the prescribed rules.
Relevant transporters have been directed to ensure strict compliance with all the security measures outlined in the notification.
The Provincial Transport Authority has warned that failure to comply with the new security directives may result in penalties against transport operators.
Possible consequences include fines, suspension of the vehicle and cancellation of its operating permit.
The measures apply to passenger buses and inter-district public service vehicles covered by the notification, with operators required to implement the prescribed security arrangements.
