Ba women bow out with pride

The NEWWORLD IGA Ba Women’s team went down 14-22 at home last week to Kadavu to end their unlikely quest for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Sitiveni Kuruvitu side started off strongly and probably deserved more than their 14-5 half-time lead, but this is a team in development stage so lessons are learned every week. They failed to score any points in the second half, a feat they also achieved against Natasiri a fortnight ago.

“Today’s game against Lautoka in Round 11 will be one to celebrate as we retain our place in the Marama Championship,” BRU Secretary Gaby Kautoga said.

“We can’t reach the knock-out stages and we can’t get relegated; so the players will just enjoy the day and hope to finish with another win.”
