Atiku Is Pained & Bitter That Tinubu Outsmarted Him To Be President, He Can’t Mentally Deal With That Fact – Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of being bitter over President Bola Tinubu’s emergence as Nigeria’s leader, claiming that the outcome of their long-standing political rivalry has been difficult for the former vice-president to accept.

Keyamo made the remarks in a post on X, where he argued that Atiku’s recent criticisms of Tinubu were driven by disappointment over his failure to secure the presidency.

“It is now very obvious that Atiku Abubakar is a pained and very bitter fellow. The pain and bitterness stems from the fact that he feels President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally outsmarted him politically to get the most coveted position of President and he can’t mentally deal with this fact,” he wrote.

The minister described Atiku’s recent criticism of the President as opposition rhetoric masking personal frustration. He also referred to the political journeys of both men, noting that Tinubu was governor of Lagos State while Atiku served as vice-president and that both politicians pursued the presidency after leaving office in 2007.

According to Keyamo, Tinubu eventually secured the presidency on his first attempt, while Atiku had pursued the ambition for decades. He attributed Tinubu’s emergence to a combination of political skill, fate, luck and divine intervention.

Keyamo cited Ecclesiastes 9:11 from the Bible to argue that political success does not always depend on speed, strength or ability, but can also be influenced by timing and circumstance.

He further urged Atiku’s associates to encourage him to seek support, while making comments about the former vice-president’s mental health. Keyamo described Atiku’s recent political posture as counterproductive, arguing that it could cost him supporters rather than attract them.

The remarks add to the exchanges between figures in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition amid preparations for the 2027 general election.

Keyamo’s comments about Atiku’s motives and mental health were his personal assertions and were not supported by independent evidence in the statement.
