Union SG Hit The Jackpot: Mofokeng’s Value Doubles Just Months After R65.3M Move
Relebohile Mofokeng’s rapid rise in European football has continued, with the South African youngster’s reported market value doubling from €3 million to €6 million following an impressive start to life at Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 21-year-old attacker has quickly adapted to European football after leaving Orlando Pirates, making an immediate impact for Union SG and attracting increasing attention with his performances.
According to the latest reported valuation, Mofokeng has enjoyed a 100% increase in his market value, reflecting the growing expectations surrounding his potential.
His early statistics in Belgium have contributed to the excitement. Mofokeng has reportedly made six Belgian Pro League appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His league goals have come against Sint-Truiden and Lommel, while he also supplied an assist during Union SG’s 2-0 victory over Antwerp.
His influence has not been limited to domestic competition. Mofokeng marked his Europa League debut with a goal as Union SG defeated Viktoria Plzeň 3-0 in September, giving him another opportunity to showcase his ability on the European stage.
The youngster’s performances have reportedly attracted interest from several prominent European clubs, with Chelsea, Atlético Madrid, Napoli and Brighton among those said to be monitoring his development.
His progress in Belgium follows an impressive spell at Orlando Pirates. During the 2025/26 PSL campaign, Mofokeng reportedly scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 27 league appearances.
Across his PSL career, he made 81 league appearances, recording 19 goals and 21 assists before making the move to Belgium.
Mofokeng has also continued to make an impact for Bafana Bafana. He scored twice in South Africa’s 5-0 victory over Eritrea in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, further enhancing his growing reputation.
For Union SG, his rapid development represents an encouraging return on their investment, while the reported €6 million valuation adds another dimension to the attention surrounding the player.
Despite the impressive start, Mofokeng remains at an early stage of his European career. Continued performances and consistency will be important as he seeks to establish himself in Belgium and fulfil the potential that made him one of South Africa’s most highly rated young attackers.
