Since Fubara Returned From SOE, He Started Acting Like He Has Grievances Against Rivers People-Nwala
Lawyer Chetam Nwala has criticised the leadership of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, saying the governor has appeared to be unhappy with the people since returning from the state of emergency.
Nwala made the comment during an interview on Channels TV while reacting to the recent reconciliation involving FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and the Rainbow Coalition with Governor Fubara.
He said the reconciliation had not addressed the hardship and neglect Rivers people experienced during the political crisis. According to him, the people suffered for months while the political disagreement continued, yet no one appeared ready to take responsibility for the effects of the crisis on the state.
Nwala argued that the dispute was mainly about political control rather than the interest of Rivers residents. He questioned how the reconciliation would benefit ordinary people in the state.
He also criticised Fubara’s performance since returning from the state of emergency, saying the governor had spent almost a year back in office without doing enough for the state.
Nwala claimed that Fubara had instead behaved as though he had grievances against Rivers people, while focusing on counting the remaining time in his administration.
In his words, “The governor has been back for almost a year now from the state of Emergency, and since he returned, he started acting like he has grievances against Rivers people; he’s quarreling with Rivers people, and he’s doing nothing for the state. He’s only counting his days and all that.”
