SGPC Chief Dhami Calls Langar Hall Attack at Alamgir Gurdwara ‘Extremely Serious’, Seeks Strict Action
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the incident at the langar hall of historic Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Patshahi Dasvin at Alamgir, describing the matter as extremely serious and calling for strict action against those responsible.
Dhami said targeting a place where Guru Ka Langar is served was a serious matter and could not be tolerated. He urged the police administration to take stringent action against those responsible for the incident.
He said gurdwaras are not only places of worship for the Sikh community but also centres of service, fellowship and faith. The tradition of Guru Ka Langar conveys the message of service and equality to humanity without discrimination, he added.
“Any act that damages a langar hall or any part of a gurdwara building is a serious matter connected with the religious sentiments of the sangat,” Dhami said.
He stressed that the sanctity of the gurdwara, the service of Guru Ka Langar and the safety of devotees are of paramount importance and that any act undermining them cannot be tolerated.
Dhami said he had directed the SGPC’s local member and the gurdwara manager to ensure action is taken against those responsible for the incident.
The SGPC president also urged the administration to conduct an impartial and thorough investigation into the matter and take strict action against those found responsible.
