REVEALED: Why Wicknell Chivayo and His Wife Were Buried Without Their Heads

Zimbabwean tycoon Wicknell Chivayo and his spouse, Lucy Muteke, have been laid to rest without their heads.

According to the family, the heads were never located after the helicopter accident.

The aircraft plummeted at Kudenga Farm in Marondera as the pair were heading back from a countryside residence under construction.Three more people perished: two pilots and a bodyguard, bringing the death toll to five.

The helicopter erupted in flames after impact, and its fuel is thought to have intensified the blaze.

The inferno raged until it burnt out, leaving the corpses so severely damaged that they were unrecognisable, said family representative Herbert Chivayo.

Some remnants recovered from the debris were initially assumed to be heads, but forensic specialists examined them and concluded otherwise.The family made its statement after gossip about the state of the bodies circulated online.

The couple were interred side by side at Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare, at 2pm, in the same graveyard as Chivayo’s mother.

The two pilots had already been interred earlier, while Lucy’s bodyguard is to be buried separately.

Investigators are still probing what caused the crash. The pilot’s final radio transmission reportedly indicated the helicopter was struggling to fly through cloudy weather. The deaths have attracted widespread attention throughout Zimbabwe.
