Prepare for Morning and Afternoon Rains on Friday, October 9, If You Live in These Areas β Kenya Met
The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast rainfall in several parts of the country on Friday, October 9, with some areas expected to receive showers during both the morning and afternoon hours.
According to KMDβs daily weather forecast issued on Thursday evening, Mombasa and Kwale are expected to receive moderate showers in both the morning and afternoon.
Kilifi will have moderate morning showers followed by light afternoon showers, while Tana River is forecast to receive light showers during both periods. Lamu will also experience moderate morning showers before light showers in the afternoon.
TaitaTaveta is expected to receive light rains in the morning and moderate showers later in the afternoon. Similar conditions are forecast in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera, where light morning rains will give way to light afternoon showers.
In central Kenya, Embu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Kiambu are expected to receive light morning rains followed by light afternoon showers. Murang’a will have light morning rains before moderate afternoon showers, while Nairobi is forecast to receive light rains in the morning and moderate showers in the afternoon.
Marsabit and Laikipia are expected to receive rainfall only in the morning. Marsabit will have light morning rains before sunny intervals in the afternoon, while Laikipia will experience light morning rains followed by sunny intervals later in the day.
Several other counties are forecast to receive rainfall only in the afternoon after sunny intervals in the morning.
These include Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, West Pokot, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Baringo, Nakuru, Kajiado, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira.
Some of these areas could experience thunderstorms and lightning alongside the afternoon showers.
KMD also warned of strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots in parts of Turkana, Samburu and Marsabit counties.
