Odisha’s Senior Journalist Prasanna Mohanty Nominated PCI Member

Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Prasanna Mohanty has been nominated as a member of the Press Council of India (PCI) for the second time.

According to a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Wednesday, the names of 6 editors and 7 working journalists have been published for the new council.

Mr. Mohanty has been working in both print and electronic media for a long time. He is currently holding the position of Chief Editorial Advisor of leading English newspaper Indus Valley Times.

Mr Mohanty is a well-known political analyst. A leading trade union leader, he holds the post of President of Odisha Union of Journalists (OUJ), was earlier twice the National General Secretary of the National Union of Journalists (India).

During his previous tenure, he had raised many issues related to the safety and welfare of journalists in the Council and made recommendations to the Press Council. He has been congratulated from various quarters for being nominated to such an honourable post.
