Oburu’s Close Family Mmber Reveals He’s Not Doing Well
Ida Odinga, the widow of Raila Odinga, has revealed that Oburu Oginga, the ODM party leader, is unwell, which prevented him from attending the dedication ceremony of the late former prime minister’s mausoleum.
Ida shared this information during the event in Bondo, Siaya County, where President William Ruto officially delivered the completed mausoleum, located at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, the family’s residence where Raila is buried.
Oburu’s absence was noticeable at this prominent event. While speaking there, Ida expressed her apologies on behalf of her brother-in-law, referring to him as her senior brother-in-law, Dr. Oburu Oginga. She informed attendees that he was unable to attend due to his illness and asked Kenyans to pray for him, expressing hope for his swift recovery so he could return to public activities soon.
“I trust that we will keep praying for him, and shortly, he will join us here again,” she said.
She did not provide details about his illness or where he is receiving treatment. This ceremony was significant for both the Odinga family and ODM supporters, who have closely followed the mausoleum’s completion. Ida’s comments were the family’s first public acknowledgment regarding Oburu’s absence at the event. As of the publication time, there has been no official statement from ODM regarding Oburu’s health.
