No police case for ex-Bafana Bafana captain’s car crash

VANDERBIJLPARK.- No police case has been opened following the car accident of former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena.

The most capped player in Bafana Bafana history told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he suffered minor injuries after losing control of his vehicle on a notorious bend at Trevaga Court in Hertz Boulevard.

Mokoena explained the accident happened on Sunday as he was driving home from a family gathering, just a short distance from his residence. This was after he returned on Saturday after spending the week involved with SAFA development structures in Johannesburg.

Allegations suggesting that Mokoena was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident are unfounded.

That means it was not reported at the police station.

Responding to queries by Sedibeng Ster Sport, Vanderbijlpark Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu said, “It’s not in our system. That means it was not reported at the police station.” Sigcu added that the only weekend accident reported to police took place in Bophelong.

Mokoena remains the most capped player in the history of the South African men’s national team, making 107 appearances after his debut against Botswana in 1999.
