The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has generated more than Rs335.6 million through the auction of four markhor trophy hunting permits, setting a new revenue record under the province’s wildlife programme.

The permits, awarded to Village Conservation Committees in Chitral and Kohistan, fetched a combined $1,211,800. KP Chief Conservator of Wildlife Dr Mohsin Farooqi supervised the auction.

The highest bid was recorded for the Toshi Two permit in Chitral, which was sold for $335,600, translating to around Rs92.965 million. The bid surpassed last year’s top offer of $272,000, or approximately Rs75.347 million.
