KP earns record Rs335.6m from four markhor trophy hunting permits
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has generated more than Rs335.6 million through the auction of four markhor trophy hunting permits, setting a new revenue record under the province’s wildlife programme.
The permits, awarded to Village Conservation Committees in Chitral and Kohistan, fetched a combined $1,211,800. KP Chief Conservator of Wildlife Dr Mohsin Farooqi supervised the auction.
The highest bid was recorded for the Toshi Two permit in Chitral, which was sold for $335,600, translating to around Rs92.965 million. The bid surpassed last year’s top offer of $272,000, or approximately Rs75.347 million.

The Toshi One permit attracted a bid of $320,600, generating about Rs88.8 million, while the Gahiret Gol permit was auctioned for $260,000, bringing in nearly Rs72 million.
The Kaigah Khowar permit also drew a substantial offer of $295,600, equivalent to approximately Rs81.8 million.
Under the province’s revenue-sharing mechanism, 80 percent of the funds will go towards community development and wildlife conservation in the relevant areas, while the remaining 20 percent will be transferred to the provincial government’s treasury.
