GVMC Seals Allipuram Shop, Imposes ₹25,000 Fine For Sanitation Violation

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) sealed a shop in Allipuram and imposed a `25,000 fine after officials found waste dumped in a public place.

GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg, accompanied by south zone zonal commissioner Mallaiah Naidu, inspected sanitation activities along Allipuram main road and nearby areas in Wards 32, 33 and 34 on Thursday. He reviewed measures to prevent waste accumulation and assessed door-to-door garbage collection through Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP) vehicles.

During the inspection, Ketan Garg noticed garbage dumped near Sai Ratna Traders on Allipuram main road. He directed officials to seal the establishment and allow it to reopen only after payment of the prescribed penalty.

Ketan Garg warned of strict action against shopkeepers, commercial establishments and residents found dumping waste on roads, in drains or in public places. He directed businesses to store waste in designated bins and hand it over to CLAP vehicles daily.

He instructed officials to enforce sanitation regulations strictly and identify habitual violators for action under municipal rules. He also called for closer monitoring of CLAP vehicle trips to ensure efficient waste collection in residential and commercial areas.

Ketan Garg directed sanitation officials to prepare a systematic collection schedule, with CLAP vehicles covering residential areas during their initial trips and commercial establishments in subsequent rounds. Public health officials were asked to conduct regular field inspections and monitor sanitation standards.

Reiterating the GVMC’s commitment to keeping the city clean, Ketan Garg said the GVMC would not tolerate negligence or violations of sanitation norms.
