GOP donor in Guilfoyle scandal blasts Trump sons, Kushner: ‘I don’t like their yuck-yuck world’
The MAGA donor who Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, reportedly asked for payment ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing expressed frustration Thursday morning with the business dealings of President Trump’s family.
The donor, attorney Eric Deters, said Guifoyle asked him to wire $100,000 ahead of the hearing and paid the president’s two oldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, a total of $300,000 in speaking fees, The Wall Street Journal first reported Wednesday.
Deters told MS NOW’s Peter Alexander that he had “no issues” with these payments but expressed disapproval with their cryptocurrency ventures.
“The only thing that bothers me about [Donald Trump Jr.] and Eric Trump is how they, along with their father, are getting rich out in the open with crypto and everything else,” he said. “President Trump said he hated crypto, his sons get in crypto, now he loves crypto.”
Guilfoyle, California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) ex-wife, was engaged to Trump Jr. until the two broke up in 2024.
Deters also criticized Trump’s son-in-law and political adviser, Jared Kushner, for the controversial $2 billion his private equity firm received from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund after leaving the first Trump administration.
“I’m a Midwest farm boy. I’m a good dude. I don’t like their yuck-yuck world,” the donor said, adding, “You couldn’t pay me to go back to Mar-a-Lago.”
Deters, who also contributed $125,000 to the PAC supporting Trump in 2022, has unsuccessfully run for Congress and Kentucky governor.
The Journal reported Wednesday that Guilfoyle pleaded with Deters to send funds to her American Express account ahead of her July 9 confirmation hearing. He did not ultimately send the money and told her it would cause problems in his marriage.
The GOP donor slammed the U.S. ambassador as “wicked, evil person” and a “grifter” during his interview with MS NOW.
“Kimberly Guilfoyle, I have no doubt, has done this to more than me,” he said. “She’s doing it right now in Greece. I know Corey Lewandowski did this stuff. I know Kristi Noem did this stuff.”
While Deters told MS NOW he would continue to support the president and MAGA candidates in elections, he “cannot stand Trump personally.”
“One, I like most of his policies. Two, I cannot stand his megalomania, his egomania, his, you know, Mount Rushmore talk and arch talk,” Deters said, adding that he does support the president’s White House ballroom project.
“Donald Trump loves billionaires and any MAGA politician,” the donor continued. “He doesn’t care about average rank-and-file people unless they’re for his votes.”
The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
