Footage Shows Man who Died in KQ Plane Trying to Do This Before He Died
Social media videos seem to capture passengers on a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight restraining a man who allegedly attempted to open the aircraft’s cabin door mid-flight, before he reportedly died on board.
The shared footage shows several travelers grappling with the man inside the cabin.
He is said to have become agitated during the flight and made multiple attempts to open the door. Passengers reportedly intervened to hold him back.
The specific events leading to the incident are unclear, including the motivations behind his alleged actions. It’s uncertain how many times he tried to reach the door or if crew members assisted in restraining him.
The man later passed away, but the cause of his death has not been determined. It is also not known if the incident played a role in his death or if he experienced a medical emergency.
Kenya Airways confirmed the passenger’s death in a statement on Wednesday, October 7. The airline noted that the emergency took place on Tuesday, October 6, around 9:20pm Nigerian time, which corresponds to 11:20pm in Nairobi.
KQ stated that the passenger was found unresponsive approximately 20 minutes prior to landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The crew provided first aid and followed emergency protocols, with medical personnel meeting the aircraft upon arrival.
The airline’s statement did not mention any incident involving the cabin door. KQ also did not reveal the passenger’s identity, nationality, or age, nor did it specify the flight details. The airline indicated that it is cooperating with the family, Nigerian authorities, and aviation regulators.
