Emeka Rollas apologises to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko over marital crisis comment

Former Actors Guild of Nigeria President Emeka Rollas has publicly apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko, and other colleagues for his remarks during the actress’s marital crisis in 2025.

Rollas issued the apology in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, admitting that while his intentions may have been right, his approach was flawed.

In November 2025, Rollas commented on the marital crisis between Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Nwoko, saying the actress needed help.

He also called out some veteran actors he claimed had witnessed incidents involving her, took a swipe at Rita Daniels over the AGN leadership contest, and commented on Nwoko’s role as Chairman of the guild’s Board of Patrons.

In his new statement, Rollas said he regrets speaking out when the family was already dealing with a sensitive situation.

“Sometimes, with the passage of time, we look back at our actions and realise that being right about an issue does not necessarily mean we handled it the right way,” he said.

According to him, a recent unexpected meeting with Rita Daniels, where people tried to reconcile them, gave him room for deeper reflection.

“A recent coincidental encounter with Mrs Rita Daniels, where some people tried to make peace between us, gave me another opportunity to reflect,” he said.

Rollas went on to apologise to Rita Daniels and her family, Regina Daniels, Senator Nwoko and his family, the AGN Board of Trustees, and colleagues including Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility and Nazareth Jesse.

He noted that his apology wasn’t tied to whether it would be accepted, saying forgiveness was at the discretion of those offended.

“Whether or not anyone chooses to accept my apology is entirely their decision. I am making it because, after looking back, I am not proud of how I handled that moment,” he said.

While maintaining that he still stands by some of his earlier concerns, Rollas said he takes full responsibility for how and when he raised them.

“I may still hold my convictions about some of the issues I raised then, but I take responsibility for my actions and my timing,” he said.

He said he had decided to embrace peace and move forward with dignity.

“Leadership is not only about having the courage to speak. It is also about having the humility to acknowledge when we could have spoken differently, waited longer, or chosen a better path,” he added.
