Dad’s fatal beatdown of mom exposed by teen son before NorCal hospital drop-off

The Bay Area father who admitted to killing his wife had beaten her so badly the night before that she repeatedly lost consciousness and defecated on herself, the victim’s teen son revealed.

Roy Anthony Lopez, 37, from Morgan Hill, was arrested after bringing his gravely injured wife, Jasmyne Garcia, 34, to Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose on Saturday morning and confessing to killing her.

The couple’s teenage son told the police that Lopez brutally beat the mother as the teenager and two of his siblings, age 6 and 3, were home, according to the Mercury News.

The 14-year-old boy alleged that Lopez was intoxicated and “grabbed him by the neck, and slammed his head against the bed multiple times” when he asked if he could go and ride his bike with a friend, a detective wrote in an affidavit.

The teen left the home, but his dad continued his violent assault on his mom, witnessed by his younger siblings.

“Daddy got mad,” the 6-year-old told authorities, adding that he “hid under the bed” while his dad continued to punch his mom in the face.

When the teen returned home around 8 p.m., he “observed blood throughout the residence, holes in the walls, water throughout the kitchen,” authorities said.

She was “awake but unable to speak, groaning in pain, and suffering from severe facial injuries,” the affidavit said.

“[The teen] stated her eyes were swollen, her face appeared inflamed, and she was unrecognizable.”

The son also said his mother defecated on herself and could not stand.

Garcia was allegedly left on the floor with her injuries until the next morning, when Lopez sobered up and drover her to the hospital, where staff found her inside his car in the parking lot.

Lopez has been charged with murder and child endangerment.

Garcia’s family described her as a “devoted mother” to her three kids and “her children were her world, and the love she had for them was immeasurable,” according to a GoFundMe campaign. “Her greatest joy was being their mom.”

“She was a beloved daughter, a proud daddy’s girl, a sister to one but truly a sister to so many. She was the kind of person who made people feel loved and welcomed, and her presence touched more lives than she may have ever realized,” the description added.

The Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services placed the children in its custody Saturday.
