Cristiano Ronaldo is a hypocrite in Jorge Jesus feud after what he said about former Portugal teammate in 2011
Cristiano Ronaldo has gone against his previous words after igniting a feud with Jorge Jesus.
Cristiano Ronaldo's comments on Ricardo Carvalho 15 years ago suggest he's a hypocrite in his feud against Portugal manager Jorge Jesus.
Ronaldo stole the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he departed Portugal's camp last week after Jesus left him on the bench for their 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway.
The 41-year-old took to social media shortly after to confirm his departure and said he would release a statement in due course to detail "the reasons" that motivated him to leave the training camp.

Ronaldo dropped his bombshell social media post on Tuesday (October 6), where he explained that his main issue with Jesus was when the Portugal manager told him he wouldn't be a part of the squad that travelled to Norway and Denmark.
The former Real Madrid superstar rejected that stance as "it would not set a good example" for his teammates and then confirmed that he was asked to consider retiring from international football before issuing an apology to the "Portuguese people".
Within the statement, he also validated eight notes for Jesus to say in his press conference, and these actions from Ronaldo only make him seem more of a hypocrite after what he once said about Ricardo Carvalho.
In September 2011, Carvalho walked out of Portugal's training camp after claiming he had been 'disrespected' by then-manager Paulo Bento.
"'I've played 75 times for Portugal and have been deeply dedicated to defending the good name of the Portuguese team," the former Real Madrid defender said at the time. "I have never before felt so disrespected and my dignity so wounded. Among my teammates, I'm just another player.
"However, I deserve, like the others, consideration and respect. "I did not intend to end my international career like this, but I do so consciously and convinced that I always honoured my country. "I would like to thank all the Portuguese people."
Carvalho was banned for a year by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and announced his retirement as a result, with Ronaldo's reaction making the headlines for backing the manager's decision over his then-Real Madrid teammate.
"No one has a guaranteed place on the team. There are no places reserved for anyone," Ronaldo said after the news broke 15 years ago.
"Whoever is performing best will play. The coach knows better than anyone."
Ronaldo is made to look like a hypocrite now, because the way he has undermined coach Jesus and thrown his toys out of the pram goes against what he said about Carvalho in 2011.

Across his generational career, the former Manchester United winger has been the main man and has rarely – if ever – found himself down the pecking order at club level.
But age catches up with every player eventually, and Ronaldo's overreaction to not being brought on against Norway proves he's finding it difficult to deal with his decline.
Despite his relationship with Jesus looking seemingly irreparable, the veteran deserves a proper send-off with Portugal – in the eyes of former teammate Luka Modric and millions of others.
Unfortunately, just as Carvalho found out in 2011, leaving the national team’s training camp without permission can result in harsh punishments under FPF regulations.
They state: "A player who, duly summoned, abandons or fails to appear without justification for training, a match or activity of the national teams or related to the sporting representation of the FPF or Portugal, is sanctioned with a suspension of one to six months and, additionally and if he is a professional player, with a fine of between 5 and 10 UC [between approximately 500 and 1,000 euros, being 102 euros per unit of account]."
Indeed, Ronaldo is facing the prospect of a ban ranging from one to six months, meaning the chance of him returning to the national team is up in the air.
That could effectively force him into retirement and end his glittering international career that has delivered 146 goals in 234 appearances on a sour note.
